In 2007, she appeared in the comedy Full of It with Ryan Pinkston for New Line Cinema. No, I don't think that's fair to say because there's lots of other characters that you meet in season 2. Like I said, I still haven't seen the season, and I don't know the story at all, so I really have no idea what it's going to be like. I think that there's going to be plenty of other characters and situations with Frank that will be just as entertaining and satisfying. The first season, Russo was one of my favorite characters—but I loved the way that they handled that death.

The Herald and all newspapers represent an old model of journalism that is, for better and worse, no longer suited for the times, and Zoe’s early attempts to get a blog there and do something other than the prescribed form of reporting are shot down. “The paper’s operating at a loss,” Tom’s boss tells him when she brings him in to arrange his departure. “Zoe Barnes, Twitter, blogs, enriched media — they’re all surface, they’re fads. They aren’t the foundation this paper was built on and they aren’t what will keep it alive,” he replies, speaking his death knell. At a public park, Barnes meets Underwood and is coerced to drop her suspicions idiocy and start anew, stating that her connection to a powerful figure would be increasingly valuable to her own gain. When she asks Underwood about Russo being found on the passenger side, he quickly deflects her suspicions.
Date of death:
House of Cards is the first TV series to have been produced by a studio for Netflix. Indeed, House of Cards veers sharply off of the path established by the original after the first two episodes, expanding the overarching plot as well as the supporting characters. Andrew Davies’s original miniseries and its two sequels, To Play the King and The Final Cut, clock in at 12 episodes total. But the idea here is that the first two seasons of the U.S. remake will comprise 26 episodes, which meant “expanding laterally” and “digging deeper,” said Willimon. It's been a week since the second season of "House of Cards" was released online, and those who dove into the Washington drama's new crop of 13 episodes were rewarded with plotting, political intrigue and a few major surprises.
Underwood admits to covering up Russo's DUI, but claims that the cover-up is the extent of his involvement and that his death was without question a suicide. By the end of their meeting, the embattled journalist is clearly leaning toward teaming with Underwood again due to the fact that he is now in a much more powerful position and that her investigation is an uphill battle. With the help of Skorsky and Lucas Goodwin, Barnes tries to uncover the truth behind the death of Peter Russo. While Russo's death was officially ruled a suicide, the team of journalists correctly suspected that the Congressman's death involved foul play and that Underwood was involved. The occurrence that set in motion a chain of events, which would eventually lead to her professional break, came about quite unexpectedly one night at the opera in early January 2013 where she was on a date with a congressional staffer. While entering the opera house, an older gentleman standing outside couldn't resist a quick passing glance at young Zoe's backside in her tight-fitting dress — a moment captured by one of the photographers snapping away.
They also seek the help of Doug, but he refuses, initially. Doug meets with Hammerschmidt, providing him with information on Frank's actions. Determined to strike back against her enemies, Claire frames Usher for Yates's murder, claiming he colluded with Russia to do so. Claire then reveals to Doug that she is pregnant with Frank's child, who will become his heir even though Frank secretly left his assets to Doug. One hundred days after Claire takes office, she faces increased scrutiny, particularly in light of her husband's death following his resignation.
Final season and firing of Spacey
Underwood begins a symbiotic, and ultimately sexual, relationship with Zoe Barnes, a young political reporter, secretly feeding her damaging stories about his political rivals to sway public opinion as needed. Meanwhile, he manipulates Peter Russo, a troubled alcoholic congressman from Pennsylvania, into helping him undermine Walker's pick for Secretary of State, Senator Michael Kern. Underwood eventually has Kern replaced with his own choice, Senator Catherine Durant. Underwood also uses Russo in a plot to end a teachers' strike and pass an education bill, which improves Underwood's standing with Walker. Because the new Vice President is the former Governor of Pennsylvania, a special election is to be held for his successor. Underwood helps Russo get clean and props up his candidacy, but later uses sex worker Rachel Posner to break his sobriety and trigger his downfall shortly before the election.
Trading secrets and access, the two form a mutually beneficial alliance that could ultimately topple an entire presidential administration. TVLINE | What has been the most challenging part of keeping the secret for the past nine months? My friends and people I work with, as a polite conversation starter they will say, “How’s it going in Baltimore? ” I had to just lie about it and say, “Yeah, I’ve got a few days off” or “The season’s going really well… ” I tried not to say too much because I didn’t feel like making up an elaborate story about shooting the show when I hadn’t been on the set in six months.
"The reason I call it successfulis because there's a deep love and trust and understanding between these twopeople, even if they're calculated in their ambitions," he explained. "A lot of people know therewas an English series and a lot of people have seen it, not that [our version] isexact to what happens in that series," Mara added. "I just assumed that peoplewould expect certain things to happen and regardless of whether or not theythought Zoe would stick around everyone's been sort of shocked by the way ithappened, which is nice." Even those who have seenthe original "House of Cards," where the Zoe character meets asimilar fate, may have been surprised by exactly how the plot unfolded. With her new Cabinet in place, Claire decides to undertake a new, progressive, agenda. The Shepherds, meanwhile, continue to plot her downfall, enlisting the help of Brett Cole, an ambitious Congressman who seeks to become Speaker of the House.
When Petrov has an American gay rights activist arrested in Russia, the Underwoods persuade him to secure a release. However, Petrov demands that the activist apologize on Russian television, leading the activist to kill himself while being visited by Claire. Later, after Russian troops are killed in the Jordan Valley, Petrov convinces Frank to remove Claire as Ambassador in exchange for a peaceful resolution. Claire resigns, giving the reason that she wants to be more active in Frank's campaign. Zoe and two colleagues, Lucas Goodwin and Janine Skorsky, continue investigating Frank and ultimately locate Rachel.
Lucas Goodwin is released from prison, and seeks revenge against Frank for having him framed and Zoe Barnes killed. Desperate, he attempts to assassinate Frank, severely wounding the president in the abdomen and killing bodyguard Edward Meechum, but not before Meechum fatally wounds Lucas. While Frank remains comatose, Donald Blythe is sworn in as Acting President of the United States.
